The Founder

Dr. C.R Swaminathan, M.A, M.Litt., Ph.D, our founder, hails from the Kariakar family of Chathapuram, Palakkad is an acknowledged Vedic scholar. He retired as Deputy Educational Adviser (Sanskrit), Government of India in 1985. He has worked as Consultant in IGNCA, Delhi and as Curator, National Archives, Nepal. He was instrumental in initiating special schemes for reservation of the oral tradition of Vedic studies and establishment of the Maharshi Sandeepani Rashtriya Veda Vidya Pratishtan, Ujjain and also in starting a number of Veda Pathasalas in various parts of the country. Besides being an extempore orator in Sanskrit and English he is also the author of several articles in Sanskrit. He has quite a few excellent publications to his credit including his Sanskrit dissertation on A Comparative Study of Gita Bhasyas and Kanva-satapatha-brahmanam with English translation. Dr. C. R. Swaminathan is a recipient of the President's Award for his outstanding contributions to Sanskrit Studies in the year 1997-98.

Pathasala Management

The Veda Rakshana Samithi under which the Veda Pathasala functions, is registered under the Societies Act, 1861 (Reg No. 14/96 dt. 10.1.1996). It is managed by an active Governing Body, which meets more than once in a month to find ways and means to achieve the great aim, "SAVE THE VEDIC TRADITION". The Samiti(Council) comprises of Patrons, Donors, Life Members and Regular Members.

Resources

The main source of finance for the Pathasala is from Maharshi Sandeepani Rashtriya Veda Vidya Pratishtan, Ujjain whose contribution amounts to Rs.1.5 lakhs a year approximately. Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Mutt through their Shashtiabdapurthy Trust, Madras regularly donates Rs. 55000/- per year. Funds are also generated through donations and membership subscriptions from the philanthropic public.
